Halloween in Edgemont 2008
Wanted: Spacemen, Pirates, Princesses and Cowgirls
We are well into Autumn and along with the gorgeous leaves, the crisp weather, and the delicious seasonal flavours we all look forward to, we also have the fun of Halloween to celebrate.
Be sure to mark your calendars so not to miss Shirley Clarkes annual Pumpkin Give Away on October 26th. And then on the 28th, Mike and Marion from The Bakehouse invite our local children to drop by for a Pumpkin Decorating Contest. The fun starts at 3:30; you need bring only your enthusiasm and imagination.
For the 2nd year, Edgemont Village invites all costumed children and students (Daycares, Pre Schools, Elementary Schools) to come and Trick-or-Treat throughout the Village during business hours on Halloween day, October 31st. The participating merchants will all have the same distinctive signs on their business doors inviting the children in for treats (so they will easily be able to tell which businesses to visit)..
They may come as a class field trip or after school with their friends or parents; either way, we would be very happy to see them in their costumes. So, turn on your imaginations and please participate in this community event.
PS: Watch for costumed merchants as you visit the businesses, too!

Harvest Festival This free, village-wide street fair sees the community packed with 5000 attendees who come to enjoy a variety of family-friendly, all-day events. From bands on the main stage, to Irish dancers, a ventriloquist, or The Extreme bike show with Dangerous Dan — there’s something for everyone.
Christmas in The Village Come December, Edgemont Village transforms into a winter wonderland. Each Christmas, we decorate our distinctive, red lamp standards to resemble giant candy canes and light the trees on the street corners and boulevards. Carolers line the streets, Santa makes an annual stop for a day of photos with kids (and pets!) and community contests add to the buzz.
Evenings in Edgemont As surely as summer arrives, so does live music come to Edgemont Village on Friday nights throughout July and August. This joint initiative with the Parks and Recreation Commission has been a resounding success from its first note 9 summers ago. Here, in our extremely beautiful natural setting, we are able to present the sounds of 8 diverse, professional bands for families to enjoy while spending time with their friends and neighbours right in the heart of the village. Attendance at these evenings has grown to average 1200 to 1500 or more; the series finale in August, at which we share the evening with Public Dreams Society and the Wild Lights festival, has attracted attendees of up to 5000.
