Edgemont Village Torch Relay

Hey, Edgemont Village!

The Olympic Torch Relay is coming through our neighbourhood at 4pm on February 10th, 2010! You don’t want to miss this amazing opportunity to be a part of an extraordinary event, so get yourselves ready for this momentous occasion.

The Olympic organisers have asked communities to Paint the Town Red, and we ask you to do the same. Show your support for our Canadian athletes and the Olympic Games by wearing red and white or the Olympic colours; by carrying flags, placards and noisemakers; but most importantly, by being here.

Be proud—let’s show them how things are really done in Edgemont! This is your community, so invite your friends, your neighbours, your kids and relatives… and don’t forget your Canadian Spirit!

Bring your camera to capture the day’s memories and pose for a photo with the Edgemont Village Eh? Team. Stay and celebrate with musical guests Black Powder Toys, Asha Diaz and Swayed. While you’re at it, you can even play a little street hockey!

Come celebrate with us and make this a day to remember! (PS: If you have bought an Edgemont Village Eh? Team shirt, be sure to wear it!)

Seasonal Events

Harvest Festival This free, village-wide street fair sees the community packed with 5000 attendees who come to enjoy a variety of family-friendly, all-day events. From bands on the main stage, to Irish dancers, a ventriloquist, or The Extreme bike show with Dangerous Dan — there’s something for everyone.

Christmas in The Village Come December, Edgemont Village transforms into a winter wonderland. Each Christmas, we decorate our distinctive, red lamp standards to resemble giant candy canes and light the trees on the street corners and boulevards. Carolers line the streets, Santa makes an annual stop for a day of photos with kids (and pets!) and community contests add to the buzz.

Evenings in Edgemont As surely as summer arrives, so does live music come to Edgemont Village on Friday nights throughout July and August. This joint initiative with the Parks and Recreation Commission has been a resounding success from its first note 9 summers ago. Here, in our extremely beautiful natural setting, we are able to present the sounds of 8 diverse, professional bands for families to enjoy while spending time with their friends and neighbours right in the heart of the village. Attendance at these evenings has grown to average 1200 to 1500 or more; the series finale in August, at which we share the evening with Public Dreams Society and the Wild Lights festival, has attracted attendees of up to 5000.
