Spring Fashion Show 10th Anniversary a Runaway Success

For ten consecutive years the women of Edgemont Village have collaborated to bring you the best the Village has to offer and this year on April 22nd, Earth Day, St. Catherines Church was magically and inspirationally transformed by Trims. Jaw-droppingly beautiful, the room was infused with natural sunlight, playing through all the delicate greenery, giant white rice paper globes, white butterflies and palm trees. See the entire event beautifully photographed by Claudia Schaefer The catered Tuscan luncheon from A Moveable Feast was served family style by our Village merchant store owner/servers, and was as gorgeous to look at as it was to eat. Bringing the event back into Edgemont enabled us to include so many more of our Village women in different ways, and it also kept all the attendees in one room which everyone loved. Everything was note perfect for our talented emcee to open with a great rendition of Welcome from Cabaret, and then an amusing personalised Village Rap to start the show and we were off…

While the joyful, sold out room enjoyed their luncheon and happily purchased raffle tickets, we handed out thousands of dollars of merchandise from our very generous Village merchants who donate to this important venue each year. At the same time the women watched two and half hours of fabulous fashions from our Edgemont retailors, all on our ‘just like me’ models, Village men and women we know and love.

Once again we have raised over $6000.00 for Sage House, North Shore Crisis Services Society, which brings us up to $41,000.00. Bravo everyone! Women doing what women do best, supporting one another.

We have many people who volunteer countless hours, product, and services for this event so that we can make this donation to these women and children. To you, we are forever grateful, and can never thank you enough.

And to the folks at Sage House and Hope’s Place, we can’t thank you enough for the good work that you do.

Remember, to go and see all the fabulous photos of this amazing day, go to our photographer Claudia Schaefer’s site and have a look. The photos are worth the visit.

Seasonal Events

Harvest Festival This free, village-wide street fair sees the community packed with 5000 attendees who come to enjoy a variety of family-friendly, all-day events. From bands on the main stage, to Irish dancers, a ventriloquist, or The Extreme bike show with Dangerous Dan — there’s something for everyone.

Christmas in The Village Come December, Edgemont Village transforms into a winter wonderland. Each Christmas, we decorate our distinctive, red lamp standards to resemble giant candy canes and light the trees on the street corners and boulevards. Carolers line the streets, Santa makes an annual stop for a day of photos with kids (and pets!) and community contests add to the buzz.

Evenings in Edgemont As surely as summer arrives, so does live music come to Edgemont Village on Friday nights throughout July and August. This joint initiative with the Parks and Recreation Commission has been a resounding success from its first note 9 summers ago. Here, in our extremely beautiful natural setting, we are able to present the sounds of 8 diverse, professional bands for families to enjoy while spending time with their friends and neighbours right in the heart of the village. Attendance at these evenings has grown to average 1200 to 1500 or more; the series finale in August, at which we share the evening with Public Dreams Society and the Wild Lights festival, has attracted attendees of up to 5000.
